Before you do a joint honours degree

July 6, 2018August 21, 2018by sophisobelLeave a Comment on Before you do a joint honours degree

Graduation was a beautiful, scorching day this week as hundreds of graduates took to campus to pose next to Old Joe and tried not to melt in the heat. Graduation was also a lovely reminder of how the past four years of my degree have been spent - desperately trying to balance two separate departments [...]

Final Year: New Beginnings

February 4, 2018September 5, 2018by sophisobelLeave a Comment on Final Year: New Beginnings

"Are you, like, totally fluent?" It's official. 1 semester completed of my final year, 1 year (ish) after starting this blog and a lot of gin consumed later; I actually miss Paris. This is nostalgia at its finest, scrolling my Instagram and forgetting all those tearful Skype calls with my Mum. Surely something crazy is [...]

June 4, 2017February 24, 2019by sophisobel1 Comment on Paris Tour Guide: Art and Leisure

So beyond eating, drinking and shopping to my heart's content, what else have I spent my time in Paris doing? Indulging in a little culture, obviously. Once again, I hasten to emphasise this [...]

Paris Tour Guide: Food and Drink

June 4, 2017February 24, 2019by sophisobel5 Comments on Paris Tour Guide: Food and Drink

The idea of writing any type of tourist guide to Paris has been on my mind since I first moved out here and began writing this blog. There is a sort of safety in complaining about French university, given that the majority of friends and family reading this won't have experienced it personally. Talking about [...]

All good things come to an end

May 24, 2017February 24, 2019by sophisobelLeave a Comment on All good things come to an end

Something I've learnt this past week? It's okay to be ready for this experience to end. I have a few remaining days with my Parisian postcode and although I am appreciating this city each day, each experience has an ending. It's time to stop feeling guilty for looking forward to coming home. Completing my final [...]

So after over a year of talking about it, I’ve finally relaunched my blog! The first post is about lockdown and how we’re all coping in this stressful, crazy, challenging time. Link in my bio. Let me know what you think! ✨
Anyone else struggling with mid-week blues? Christmas can’t come soon enough, except no one has any presents yet... instead, I’m dreaming of the weekend and exploring favourite spots by home, including this beautiful flower shop 🌸🌹
Happy Saturday! It’s suddenly got much colder, every town square is filled with Christmas markets and I’ve accepted 28203 diary invites at work for 2020 meetings... so here’s a #throwback to exploring Central Park in the sunshine! I’m finishing a blog post on my top tips for New York so stay tuned ✨
Cosy Sunday 🌸 I always find the transition period between a dreamy holiday and busy reality a bit intense, and so Boyfriend and I are having coffee and cake and steeling ourselves for the first full week back.
Pasta of dreams 😍 we had some good food, bad food, and incredibly delicious food during our New York trip 🐷 back to reality today in windy, wet London and all I’m dreaming of is this pasta! Definitely a top recommendation for anyone visiting ✨ this dish is orecchiette with wild mushrooms, escarole & butternut squash!
We went for a beautiful sunny stroll along the High Line and I can 10/10 recommend it 👏 such a calm way to see such a busy city! I’d get up early though because it’s a tourist trap, even on a week day...
